FTP (short for File Transfer Protocol), is the most famous means for transferring content to a web hosting account. With an FTP client app that’s installed on your desktop or laptop computer, you can connect to your hosting server and copy all of the web files that you want with a couple of mouse clicks. You can do this using a simple-to-use GUI and it is as simple as dragging and dropping the abovementioned files. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is the fact that you are able to create separate FTP accounts, each one with a different level of access to your web space, so if you would like to provide a 3rd party with access, for instance – a web designer, they will be able to connect only to one specific directory and won’t be able to access the remaining content or any other information, such as personal details. Three things are necessary in order to be able to make an FTP connection – a hostname, which is normally a domain or an IP address, a username and a password.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting

You will be able to set up as many FTP accounts as you need with each of the Linux shared hosting offered by our company, as we have chosen not to limit this service. In this way, you can maintain multiple sites at once or provide other people with access to separate folders. Once a particular job has been done and you would not like that person to be able to access your website files any longer, you can change the password for the specific FTP account or you can just remove the account with a few clicks of the mouse and stop worrying about someone using it once more. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with all shared packages, will permit you to see the complete list of the existing FTP accounts displayed alphabetically. It takes just one click of the mouse to manage different options for any of them – to update the password or the access path, to download an auto-config file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a different FTP account for each one of them, as we have not put a restriction on this feature with any of our semi-dedicated plans. You can do this via the FTP section of our simple-to-navigate Hepsia Control Panel where you can also check the full list of all the FTP accounts that you have created, along with the folder that each one can connect to. If needed, you’ll be able to edit the password for a specific account or to change its access path with a few clicks. You can also remove an account without effort in case you do not need it anymore – for example, if you’ve hired a developer who is done with the website and you don’t want them to be able to connect to your files anymore. For your convenience, we’ve created a number of tutorial video clips, that will help you administer your FTP accounts effortlessly in case you’ve never used a hosting package previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers

None of the Linux VPS servers that we offer includes a limit on the total number of FTP accounts that you can have at any moment, so you can create a separate FTP account for any site hosted on your Virtual Private Server, regardless of whether it’s under a domain or sub-domain. Also, it does not matter which Control Panel you’ll pick when you order – cPanel, Hepsia or DirectAdmin, as an FTP server will be set up on your VPS at the time of the installation of any of them. If you want a number of individuals to be able to set up a connection to the same directory using their very own sign-in details, for example, it’ll take a couple of mouse clicks to create a separate FTP account for each one of them. Deleting an active account or changing the directory that it can connect to is just as simple and you won’t come across any difficulty, even if you don’t have any past experience in such matters.
